How We Met.

So, it was sometime early in 2006 that I first started talking to my boyfriend.
It started as a small thing, I was talking to friends on a chat site, and he had always said hi, and i had said hi back and nothing had ever evolved from it. A lovely, simple friendship.

That's all it was.

So, fate played it's part. I happened to log on at what would seem just the right time, for me anyway, the not-yet-boyfriend had hung around with the wrong people and had gotten things stolen from his house.

He popped up when I logged on. He needed credit to ring his parents.

I didn't know how much to trust him.
So I politely said no.
But we exchanged email addresses.

A couple of days later we started talking again, he told me that it was all sorted.
I guess we were practically inseparable for a little while there. Just talking. Still just a lovely friendship.
I mean, I thought he was unbearably cute, but these internet things, I just didn't know.
So eventually he asked me if we could actually talk, and I gave him my number. He promised to call, and his promise was true. Later that night, we spent forever talking on the phone. About The OC, Napoleon Dynamite, music, work. We just talked.

I really started to enjoy his calls, and getting text messages. I started to like him. It was crazy, but liking him felt right.

So eventually after a month of being best friends, I decided it was time to meet him.

So I tried to look nice, unsucessfully, and I stood at the train station waiting for the train.
I hid in the toilets out of succumbing to utter nervousness!
But when that train rolled in, I came out, it was now or never.

I saw him, he saw me.

And I think I fell for him in a heartbeat.

So I guess I'm proof that internet relationships do work.
I don't know, I guess some people find it so taboo to be in an internet relationship. I never really tell anyone how we met, mainly because I have before and got looked down on.

So that's how it was. And how it is. 4 years later, and I still love him to bits.
Something must of been right in the end. Thankyou fate!

Tell me how you and your partners met?

  1. Oh wow. That's so awesome. I'm so happy for you. And I don't think there is any reason to look down on your relationship. I mean... four years?! That's a long time. And it's not like you jumped into anything. You knew each other.

I met my partner through my high-school best friend. He's her nephew. Lost contact and found each other again years later. =) Small world.

  2. aww... :)

my boyfriend and i went to high school together. we did the same events in track and practiced every day of spring for 3 years. after i graduated, we became best friends... then his mom died. i felt so incredibly bad for him and realized that it wasn't just because he was my best friend- i had feelings for him for the first time in our 4 years of knowing each other. the only problem? i was also best friends/semi-dating another guy from home. awkward situation. this dragged out for months, but eventually i let the other guy go. it just wouldn't have worked out. even so, i couldn't be with my bf immediately. i had been in a relationship for 3 years prior to everything and had been cheated on numerous times. needless to say, i wasn't ready to trust someone with my heart yet. it took months and months of patience, but he waited for me. we've had our struggles with distance (we go to school 2 hours apart), but it is the best decision i've ever made. we will be celebrating our official 1 year anniversary next weekend :)

  4. The internet brought my boyfriend and I together too. 100 miles apart and two years later, I don't regret a thing.
